Booking your artist and deciding on your hair and makeup for your big day is just the beginning of the journey. There are plenty of steps to go through before the big day and on the wedding day itself.
Here is an idea of your timeline and top tips on getting prepared!
Around 6-8 Weeks Before the Wedding
Hair and Makeup Trial:
I typically send out booking links for hair and/or makeup trials about 6 months before the wedding date. You might already have an idea of the look you want, but it’s completely okay if you’re still unsure. The trial is a great chance to experiment with the style you're considering, and it allows you to make adjustments so you feel confident and excited about your hair and makeup on the big day.
Pre-Wedding Skincare:
Start a consistent skincare routine to ensure your skin looks radiant and fresh. Don’t try any new products too close to the wedding to avoid any unexpected reactions. I will chat through your skincare regime and make any recommendations on your trial too. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day! This will really help your skin.
Hair Care:
Start regular hair treatments and trims to ensure your hair is healthy and manageable for the big day.

The Night Before
Cleanse and Moisturize:
Wash your face, hydrate, and apply your favourite night cream. Keep your skin moisturized to create a smooth canvas for makeup. DO NOT try anything new! We don't want any reactions before the big day.
Hair Prep:
I will always give you advice on the trial on what to do the day before the wedding but it's generally best to wash your hair the night before rather than the morning of, as hair holds styles better when it’s not freshly washed.
Set Out Your Wedding Day Essentials:
Have your wedding dress, accessories, shoes, jewellery and perfume etc ready. Lay out everything you'll need to avoid any last-minute stress. Your photographer will probably want them too so its always good to know exactly where everything is.

Wedding Day: The Beauty Timeline
Wake Up and Hydrate:
Start your day with a big glass of water to keep your skin fresh and glowing. Take your time to enjoy a calm breakfast, but don’t overdo it on salty or sugary foods.
Skin Care Routine:
Start your morning with a gentle cleanse, followed by your favourite toner, serum, and moisturizer. Be sure to hydrate your lips and eyes to keep them looking fresh for the day ahead. I will always re cleanse and hydrate, however we want your skin to be fresh and ready so unless you are one of the first for makeup it's best to apply at least a moisturiser when you first make up
My arrival:
I will always send out a timeline for you around 2 weeks before the wedding day. This lets you know who needs to be where and when. Make sure the bridesmaids/bridal party all know when their slot is to make sure things run smoothly. Make sure your bridal party has their inspiration photos/ideas ready.
I will arrive 25 - 15 mins before my start time to allow me to find you and get my kit set up. If I am bringing an assistant they will usually arrive with me.
Getting ready:
The bride will always be with me for both hair and makeup. I typically start with hair, as it takes a bit longer, and then move on to makeup. If I’m working with an assistant, they’ll handle the rest of the bridal party’s hair while I focus on makeup. The bride is always scheduled second to last to ensure we have plenty of time to finish, while keeping your hair and makeup looking fresh for the big moment.
Time to get dressed:
I always aim to have hair and makeup completed at least an hour before your ceremony or when you need to leave. This gives you a chance to relax and take a moment to breathe before getting dressed. I recommend having the bridesmaids get dressed first so that everyone is ready and available to help you if you need anything.
Final Touch-Ups:
It’s time to make sure you’re aisle-ready! We’ll do a final touch-up on your makeup and ensure everyone’s hair looks flawless. Once you’re dressed, I’ll apply your lipstick to avoid any accidental transfer onto your dress, and I’ll also help with placing your veil. You’ll be picture-perfect and ready to walk down the aisle!
Photoshoot:
During this time, your photographer will probably want to capture portraits of you in your bridal gown. You may also want to take some "getting ready" shots with your bridesmaids.

Additional Tips for Staying Stress-Free:
Flowers need to come out of water around 30 mins before the ceremony, make sure they are dry before you hold them, we don't want any drips!
I will give you a small touch up kit for the day, this will include a small amount of powder on a puff, blotting papers and a sample of your lip colour. I also offer full sized top up kits if you'd like to purchase one of these will full sized products for your to keep after the wedding. This will all help to keep your look flawless all night
Make sure no one has hair bobbles on their wrists or tight socks on. We don't want circles on wrists or ankles
Have an emergency kit, include safety pins, sewing kit, breath mints, stain remover, plasters etc.
Make sure dresses etc are steamed the night before. If doing in the morning make sure that it's done before hair and makeup! Steam and freshly done hair and makeup do not mix well.
Give your maid of honour or wedding planner responsibility of coordinating with any suppliers or guests on the morning so you can focus on relaxing and getting ready.
Stay hydrated. Keep drinking water throughout the morning to ensure your skin remains hydrated and dewy.
Practice Deep Breathing. I know it sound cliché to say but honestly it works! This will keep any nervous energy at bay and help you feel more at ease during the prep process.

This timeline helps ensure that your wedding day beauty prep goes smoothly, giving you more time to enjoy every moment of your big day. By sticking to a well-planned schedule, you’ll feel beautiful, confident, and stress-free as you step into the next chapter of your life!
